How to Promote Your Website/Articles

In this post we will discuss promoting either your website, or a particuliar article on your website. This is a living journal, so please check back later as we continue to expound on the subject.

Overview

So how do we measure our promotion efforts? Well you need to set goals. For an activist, the goals could be more than folks simply viewing your website. You may want folks to sign on to a petition, or join an email list.

For this exercise, we are going to set a very simply goal. We want to get at least 100 different folks to visit our website each day. That means we want 100 folks to visit the front page of our website each day.

How to Add/Resize Images to a Web Page

Adding an image.  Note: These instructions are for Public Action websites.

Place your content in edit mode.

  • Using the online editor, place you mouse cursor in the location where you would like your image to be locatged. Left click to set the location.
  • Click on Insert/Edit Image icon
  • Click on Browse Server
  • Click on the image file name.
  • Click on OK.

How to Create Links

First some basic informaton regarding links. As with most things on the web, folks assume everyone understands what a link is, what is does, how it works. We don't make any assumptions in this diary.

What is a link? Well it's something folks can click on, resulting is your computer displaying something new. Here is a link to the New York Times.

How to Position Graphics and Images on a Web Page

A standard Public Action website comes installed with the online editor called "FCKeditor".
